This past Sunday, 16 club members and 10 of our first gen Firebirds drove up to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for our second annual Fall Colors Cruise. The weather was crisp and dry and the fall foliage couldn’t have been better! This was a wonderful way to wrap up our 2014 cruising season, with a short cruise to the Geneva Inn for lunch, and then a Firebird tour around the beautiful shores of Lake Geneva. The Geneva Inn is an ideal location to view the lake in an elegant restaurant. Sunday’s champaign brunch included live piano music adding to the classy atmosphere. On top of that, they really know how to accommodate car clubs and provided us with private parking for all our vintage Pontiacs. This post will focus on the trip up to Lake Geneva, and the next ones will focus on the rest of the cruise.
Fitting to a fall color cruise – we noticed these ‘birds were all red, orange, purple and bronze.
Another angle of the cars getting ready. New member Mark C.’s Firebird drew a lot of attention.
This is the first cruise with us for him and his stunning convertible ’68 400 restomod.
This ‘bird is the best of both worlds, combining 17’ wheels, Detroit Speed tublar A arms, and QA1 coil- over suspension with old school 1968 Firebird good looks…. and wait until you see the engine!
All ready for fall Firebird fun. Gentilemen, start your engines!
Members Mike L. and Mike Mac… ready for takeoff.
On the road behind me is Paul G., and his wild House of Kolors Pearl Orange 1968 show car – which will be on display at the MCACN Show next month in Rosemont Illinois.
Six vintage Firebirds in a row cruising down the street made quite a sight to see!
After a quick gas stop, we’re on the road again.
With the lake in sight, our destination is just up ahead.
The beautiful fall colors in Wisconsin were the main attraction on this cruise!
The Geneva Inn hotel and restaurant is always a great sight to see, as we slowly pull in and get situated.
Member’s cars Sully and Mark C. waiting to park in our line up, with the Geneva Inn in the background.
Here’s all ten ‘birds as we join up with Chet’s ’68 Verdoro Green Ram Air Firebird that was already here.
Like a red first generation Firebird Convertible Straight, this end of our line has a ’67, ’68 and ’69 all in a row!
Everyone had such a great time getting together and talking Firebirds.
Kelly and Alishia enjoing the warmth of the fireplace in the lobby.
Getting ready for a great lunch with some great Firebird friends!
Outside overlooking the lake at the Geneva Inn – just a little too chilly for outside dining on this day.
One of the traditions of Lake Geneva is the mail boat that still delivers the mail everyday in the summer to the residents on the lake.
Stay tuned for our next post on this exciting fall colors cruise as we’ll see each car up close and then on the road taking in the sights around the lake.
